Overview of Zero Waste Approach

Zero Waste Approach, also known as Waste Minimization, refers to a set of principles that focuses on waste prevention and promotes the process of redesigning resource life cycles so that products can be repurposed or reused. In the Zero Waste System, all materials are reused until the optimum level of consumption is reached.

Zero Waste ensures that the generation of waste is prevented during production, as opposed to end-of-pipe waste management. Zero waste encompasses more than eliminating waste through reducing, reusing, and recycling. It focuses on restructuring distribution and production systems to reduce waste. Zero waste provides guidelines for continually working towards eliminating waste.
