The Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration of Food businesses) Regulation, 2011 recognizes that in the field of human nutrition, safe, clean and wholesome food is indispensable to the health and welfare of the consumers of the country; that food is a perishable commodity and is susceptible to contamination and adulteration; and that basic sanitary and hygienic conditions are deemed to be necessary for the production and distribution of safe and suitable food.

Food Safety and Standards Regulations lays down the hygienic and sanitary practices that every food establishment in the country must fulfill for ensuring basic hygiene.

This program is designed to provide some guidance on and help you in understanding of the following:
– Good Hygienic and Sanitary Practices for production of safe food;
– General Requirements on Hygienic and Sanitary Practices to be followed by all Food Business Operators as laid in Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration of Food businesses) Regulation, 2011, Schedule 4 ;
– The importance of General Requirements on Hygienic and Sanitary Practices and how it can help the Food Business Operator in the production of safer food and better business.
The learning would bring about awareness and a better understanding of these requirements for Hygiene and sanitary practices as stated in the Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration of Food businesses) Regulation, 2011.

Applicants for this course, should as a minimum, have educational qualification of a 1 year program or Diploma in food chain related course after completion of class twelve from a recognized Institute / University, and during this course or Diploma should have had microbiology as one of the subjects.

This program is intended for people who would implement General Hygienic and Sanitary practices as per Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration of Food businesses) Regulation, 2011 like those employed in food industry, food safety professionals, faculty and students of food science / food processing / food technology, Food safety auditors, food safety consultants, etc.
